A Special Treat – The White Barn Inn

Even the most luxurious of homes start off as a rough construction project, and sometimes the conditions can be a bit challenging. One particularly expansive project had me bundling up in my warmest clothes and strapping on my sturdy boots to head up the coast of Maine in the dead of winter.

During my numerous trips over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to visit the renowned White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine. This local gem has a lovely rustic elegance that truly captures the spirit of Maine. Nothing is too fussy, and everything is perfectly refined. One of my favorite parts about the White Barn Inn is the beautiful restaurant with the large window that overlooks a garden, providing a gorgeous view year-round. Like a framed work of art, the garden becomes a integral part of the look and feel of the entire restaurant.

The menu changes weekly and features a sophisticated palette of flavors and colors from local produce and seafood. Here are just a few dishes from the current menu – just writing about these savory delights makes me want to jump on 95 North right now!

Baked Salmon Filet and Day Boat Scallops with Succotash Puree,
Sautéed Radishes, Pancetta Braised Pearl Onions and Parsley Sauce
Steamed Maine Lobster Nestled on a Bed of Homemade Fettuccine
with Carrot, Ginger, Snow Peas and Cognac Coral Butter Sauce
Spring Vegetable Fagotti Pasta with Fiddlehead Ferns, Hazelnut and
Parmesan Cheese Froth, Morel Mushrooms and Carrot Crisp

I have yet to stay at the Inn, but I may just have to treat myself to a weekend away when the project is completed!

Interesting, I’ve been to Kennebunk, many times however, I’ve yet to stay there. Looks cozy and I may have to check it out.
    Thanks for the tip!
