Fearless. That is what Alexandra von Furstenberg named her first collection of contemporary furniture, and it’s exactly what this L.A.-designer is! After working at the office of mother-in-law Diane von Furstenberg for ten years, Alexandra relocated to West Hollywood and unleashed her own brand of home furnishings in 2007.
Alexandra’s first collection of signed, limited edition acrylic furniture consists of eight pieces, ranging from side tables to oversized dining tables that are all illuminated with a kiss of neon color. Inspired by gems, the collection embodies strong lines and bold glamour.
The Brilliant Acrylic Console Table in red is Alexandra’s most popular piece. Perfect for foyers, hallways, offices and other spaces, this console adds a sophisticated pop of modern color.
Another famous AVF piece is the majestic Bullet Acrylic Coffee Table. The luxurious shape is reminiscent of a sparkling emerald-cut faceted diamond, while the style is still simple and understated.
The Blacksmith Acrylic Desk features a sans serif A-frame design for a simple yet sleek finish. Available in black, white and clear, this desk makes a powerful statement.
The AVF Acrylic Lotus Bowl – shown here in amethyst purple – was one of the newest accessories added to the collection. As a limited edition accent, however, it was only available in 2012. The multi-faceted design highlights Alexandra’s incredible attention to detail.
The Vanity Mirror Tray in bronze is simply enchanting. Whether for displaying perfumes in the bedroom or bath or serving up tumblers on the bar, this tray will reflect gorgeous light.
With a stunning juxtaposition of drama and delicate elegance, the Acrylic Lace Printed Charm Candy Bowl is a truly unique piece. It’s a luxurious way to serve nuts or candy, but I especially love the idea of using it to create a floating flower display. The Charm Bowls are Alexandra’s favorite home accessory.
I also love the ultra chic Snap Frames by AVF. These magnetic picture frames snap into place for effortless style. Plus, they come in 10 different colors so you can mix and match.
Even if neon or acrylic isn’t your style, you can find inspiration from Alexandra’s fearless contemporary perspective. As Alexandra told Bungalux in an interview, ”Decorating one’s home is such a form of expressing your style, taste and your fashion sense. I don’t believe color goes out of style – how you use it does.”
