My Top Ten List for 2010 Looking back on 2010, here are some of my favorite projects and activities of the year: 1) Reconfigured and redesigned a master bathroom by converting four small spaces into one large spa-like retreat – a unique center vanity was used with face to face sinks and a double sided stainless steel mirror which hangs from the ceiling LeslieFine-SO10_Kitchen_and_Bath-reprint_v2.pdf 2) Transformed a master bedroom using the client’s favorite colors – pink and green – with a custom area rug, fully upholstered bed, specialty decorative pillows, window treatments and custom designed wall sconces 3) Inventoried all of the furnishings in my clients’ large suburban home in anticipation for a move into the city – selected which pieces would be appropriate for the new downsized space and combined them with new purchases 4) Presented a “Downsizing Seminar” with my two of my colleagues, Bob Ernst of FBN Construction and Frann Bilus of Otis & Ahearn http://blog.lesliefineinteriors.com/events/downsize-and-maximize-a-recap/ 5) Designed a functional and attractive banquette for the kitchen of a client’s new home 6) Transformed a living room by adding beautiful, custom decorative pillows and a custom-designed ottoman and by rearranging and adding accessories 7) Redesigned a master bathroom by converting a walk in closet into a large, beautiful shower with all of the bells and whistles http://blog.lesliefineinteriors.com/fine-tuned/master-bathroom-renovation/ 8) Fully redesigned and renovated a now beautiful Back Bay townhouse 9) Presented two seminars at Residential Design and Construction 2010 on the following topics: “Custom Residential Projects in the Urban Setting” and “Out of the Shadows and into the Spotlight: How our Bathrooms have taken Center Stage” http://blog.lesliefineinteriors.com/events/residential-design-and-construction-2010/ 10) Started this Blog!! When it comes to business associates I love to work with FBN Construction is on the top of the list! There is a reason they won four Gold Prism awards in 2009 – they’re great at what they do. Bob Ernst and the entire team always go above and beyond when it comes to meeting my client’s expectations. An open concept kitchen I designed in collaboration with Poggenpohl Boston and FBN Construction is featured in the January/February issue of Design New England. This issue focuses on “just right” kitchens and baths. The stunning penthouse pied-a-terre on Rowes Wharf has some of the most impressive views found in the city. The team worked hard to showcase the scenic views of both the harbor and the city lights. I used a combination of soft colors, opague glass and stainless steel to reflect the views and inspire calm. Soft furnishings throughout add comfort to the clean lined space. Rosemary Porto, a senior designer at Poggenpohl Boston, did a fantastic job designing a functional and beautiful kitchen featuring teak cabinets accented with glass and stainless steel. The cabinet placement maximizes storage while allowing the outside view to take center stage. Like many empty nesters I have worked with, these clients love the contemporary uncluttered spaces that represent a refreshing start to a new phase of life. In fact, they like the condo so much, they spend more time here than their large home in the suburbs.
