On Thursday, May 10th, I will be joining my friends over at the Poggenpohl Boston showroom for an evening celebrating Innovation. It is certainly fitting that Rosemary Porto and her team have chosen this as the theme of the event. The company continues to be the innovator in kitchen and bath cabinetry even though the company was founded 120 years ago!

I am thrilled to be honored at the event celebrating the recent launch of my new website and blog. While I am certainly proud of being recognized for my company’s innovative marketing and social media efforts, I am equally proud of how Leslie Fine Interiors is constantly innovating when it comes to our interior design projects. I am always on the lookout for the latest high tech innovations for the home and the newest products available. We are constantly trying to innovate and change how we approach a project so the spaces not only best reflect our clients but provide them with the absolute best the marketplace has to offer.

Spend an Evening with Grammy Winner Patti Austin

Grammy winner Patti Austin and the Poggenpohl Boston Kitchen Design Studio will be hosting an evening of cooking in support of the Over My Shoulder Foundation on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.

Patti Austin loves to cook almost as much as she likes to sing and entertain, so it’s only fitting that she will be working with Poggenpohl’s showroom chef Kurt von Kahle to whip up some delicacies for the evening. While Patti may not be singing, she will certainly be entertaining the crowd!

The Foundation’s goal is to raise awareness of the impact of mentoring both cross-culturally and cross-generationally. Patti Austin was profoundly influenced by mentors throughout her life, and now she mentors young, talented artists in return.

As an active supporter of the Over My Shoulder Foundation, I am happy to be offering two pairs of VIP tickets to this June 19 fundraiser. All you have to do is visit the Leslie Fine Interiors Facebook page to enter. Contest winners will be able to enjoy the cooking demonstration seated right at the island while interacting with Patti and Kurt. It’s sure to be a wonderful evening. Architectural Digest

This month’s issue of Architectural Digest features two kitchens I designed with Poggenpohl’s Rosemary Porto. Rosemary is the Showroom Manager and lead designer at Poggenpohl’s Boston showroom. I love working with Rosemary because she is excellent at looking at kitchen spaces and transforming them into functional, beautiful kitchens. She has a great eye for balance, color and uses unusual materials and layouts to achieve award winning kitchens. She herself is an accomplished cook and uses her personal understanding of how a kitchen should function in creating kitchens for others. Poggenpohl is often my go to for kitchen design because they have cutting edge designs, fantastic finish selections and top quality German engineering. Clean and contemporary – these kitchens can be used in contemporary spaces as well as in more transitional settings. Their quality is unsurpassed and their designs execute beautifully. Poggenpohl’s customer service is superb. They are highly responsive and work hard to exceed expectations. Here are photos of the two featured kitchens.

See my “Room with a View” in Design New England Magazine

An open concept kitchen I designed in collaboration with Poggenpohl Boston and FBN Construction is featured in the January/February issue of Design New England. This issue focuses on “just right” kitchens and baths. The stunning penthouse pied-a-terre on Rowes Wharf has some of the most impressive views found in the city. The team worked hard to showcase the scenic views of both the harbor and the city lights. I used a combination of soft colors, opague glass and stainless steel to reflect the views and inspire calm. Soft furnishings throughout add comfort to the clean lined space. Rosemary Porto, a senior designer at Poggenpohl Boston, did a fantastic job designing a functional and beautiful kitchen featuring teak cabinets accented with glass and stainless steel. The cabinet placement maximizes storage while allowing the outside view to take center stage. Like many empty nesters I have worked with, these clients love the contemporary uncluttered spaces that represent a refreshing start to a new phase of life. In fact, they like the condo so much, they spend more time here than their large home in the suburbs.
